The question of whether humans are free in their actions and are therefore (made) morally responsible has been the focus of philosophical inquiry since antiquity. Reflections from metaphysics and ethics collide in this question. Combining the libertarian theory of Helen Steward with the virtue ethics that can be traced back to Aristotle leads to a new perspective on the debate about freedom of action and freedom of will.
