The studies collected in this volume attempt to demonstrate the impact of trinitarian thought on the exposition of the main doctrines of the Christian faith from creation to the last things.

The recent renaissance of trinitarian theology provides the background for the studies in this volume. Christoph Schwöbel argues that the doctrine of the Trinity functions as the comprehensive framework of Christian doctrine. The studies collected in this volume attempt to demonstrate the impact of trinitarian thought on the exposition of the main doctrines of the Christian faith from creation to the last things. It is argued that the relationship that God is as Father, Son and Spirit shapes the relationship God has to the world as creation. A relational theology is therefore the key to a relational understanding of the world and of what it means to be human. By offering an introduction to the problems and promises of trinitarian theology the author seeks to offer an introduction to the activity of doing systematic theology.
