This study draws on ideological theory in order to examine the political philosophy of F.A. von Hayek (18991992), one of the leading intellectual proponents of neoliberalism. It devotes particular attention to the relationship between Hayek's thematically diverse and ideologically complex thinking and to the historical decline and rebirth of economic liberalism in the 20^th century.
