Against the accusation that Kant simply presupposed the stem dualism of sensibility and understanding, this book shows that he had a clear idea of the rationale for the differentiation between sensibility and understanding as the only sources of cognition. The starting point is an analysis of the theory of the types of representation intuition and concept with which Kant introduces a new conceptualization of the singular and the universal.
