German Alsatian Jacob Balde (16041668) is considered one of the most significant Neo-Latin poets. His work encompasses a wide range of genres. The thirty interpretations presented here examine all of the Jesuit's periods of creative output. It pays special attention to his reception, presenting two extensive, previously overlooked documents: a parody by Magnus Daniel Omeis and the Freiburg Festival play Cithara Jacobi Baldei.
