This volume presents a collection of 12 of Erasmus Gaß's studies dealing with the relation of God and mankind.

This volume presents a collection of 12 of Erasmus Gaß's studies dealing with God and mankind. Arranged into four parts, the first addresses God's dealings with the world and places center stage His ability to act in history. The author shows that God is able to intervene at any time in order to channel His intentions for universal salvation in the right direction. The second part examines how God communicates with individual human beings and to this end, the biblical understanding of prophets, as well as the question of true prophecy, are subjects of discussion here. The overall topic of the third section is the biblical idea of election as it was developed in the books of Hosea and Kings, while the final section deals with human conduct as seen through the eyes of God. Contours of an Old Testament ethics are hereby outlined and it is shown how these might prove helpful to human coexistence.
