The Kingdom of Jerusalem, which was created in 1099 after the sack of the Holy City, influenced the history of the Middle East for almost 200 years. Its political development was largely determined by the ruling style of the current king and was thus always subject to the factors of continuity and change. The study examines this phenomenon in terms of foreign relations under Amalric and his son Baldwin IV (11631185).
