Georg Kalinna deals with selected works of Protestant theological ethics to show how Protestant theology reacted to the challenge of a new political order, distinguishing between different constellations of theological interpretation of politics in the process.
After 1945 theological ethics needed to find a theological key to the political system of the German democracy in postwar Germany. This study deals with selected works of protestant theological ethics to show how protestant theology reacted to the challenge of the new political order. In doing so, it distinguishes different theological interpretations of politics. The book contributes to the research of mid-twentieth-century history as well as to systematic reflections on contemporary hermeneutics of politics. The political ethics of the early period of the Federal Republic are models of how to combine Christian tradition and social reality.
