This volume presents twenty essays by the Old Testament scholar Hans-Christoph Schmitt (19412020) on topics pertaining to the tradition history and redaction criticism of the Pentateuch. It makes a contribution to the interpretation of central texts from the books of Genesis, Exodus, and Deuteronomy, as well as to fundamental methodological questions in current Pentateuch research and the theological history of Israel and early Judaism.
