In Buenos Aires, the coexistence of the voiced eísmo and the voiceless eísmo is a striking phonetic characteristic that remains a highly dynamic phenomenon. This urban dialectological and sociolinguistic study uses a diasystemic perspective to focus on the synchronal distribution of the pre-palatal variants and discusses both place and group specific and pragmatic factors influencing the variation.
