In De generatione animalium, Aristotle (4th century BCE) provides a complex theory of generation and heredity. This monograph shows how Aristotle makes innovative use of writing to not only develop his own theory but also to convey his research method. It thus provides a tool for ongoing research into Aristotle's writings while making a contribution to the history of scientific literature.
