Chryseidos Libri III, the Latin didactic poem on alchemy by the Strasbourg physician, alchemist and pharmacist Johannes Nicolaus Furichius (16021633) is published in an annotated edition and translation. In a fantastic travelogue which contains retold myths from antiquity, this book describes the transformation of metals. The poet's accompanying notes place this work in relation to Italian and French poetry of the Renaissance. Furthermore, the poet comments on the ongoing discussions of his time about natural history.
