Recently discovered 16^th-century tax records in Quedlinburg provide the basis for this social-topographical investigation. The work traces the history of residential and financial circumstances as well as topographical, epidemic, and political turning points, some of them dating back to 13101330. The presented sources and findings are of major importance to historians, and will also help guide the work of building researchers and archeologists.
