Introducing my "digital painting" method using an old drawing software. It has always been my dream to use a digital app as an actual painting tool. You know, that actual rub-a-dub-dub, brush, brush sort of thing you can do via the conventional way of painting. So in lieu of this, I developed my own digital painting method and I want to share this to others.
I developed my own digital painting method and I want to share this new-found hobby of mine to others, who, like me are wanting to paint again. I want them to again experience the thrill and satisfaction of being able to create and be creative. To be an artist once again. Because artists never die...they just paint away. Once an artist ? always an artist.
Many will ask, why not make use of the software's advanced features? Why go through this route when there is an easier way? Yup, why not, indeed! The features of digital drawing programs are so much easy to use and much faster. Just a click here and there and presto, you've got a work that looks like a real painting.
However, creating painting-like-artworks using this route gives me that hollow and dull feeling inside. You might think it is weird but, yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Even if I did it myself, I cannot completely say I own it because, to me, it's a product of technology that anybody can re-create on their own.
Bottom line. My method makes me happy and fulfilled. It's my happy pill! There's contentment and a sense of accomplishment every time I finish my painting work.
So that's it, I'm back to what I called earlier... the good old fashioned way ? using a digital drawing program. Then again, as a reminder, You won't be using its advanced features, filters and plug-ins. You will do everything M-A-N-U-A-L-L-Y. Remember canvas, paints, brushes etc. etc. ? the things we use in traditional painting? Technically, you will still be using them albeit a difference. Instead of using real canvas, brushes and paints, you will be using its digital version (plus some!).
Oh, as a bonus, I've included here a technique where you can create a brand new artwork by just tweaking the method I showed here by tweaking the process just tiny-weeny bit.
Last one on the road, as the cliché goes and the same goes for this complete Trilogy of "Painting Digitally, The Good Old Fashioned Way". It's been a great ride and I thank those who have supported me with this journey.
Autorentext
Author, blogger, spin writer, SEO, artist, designer, all rolled in one -- that's me! I have a thousand and one ideas that is bursting in my mind and I want to share it with everybody. Hoping ang praying that some my of dreams, ideas, fantasies and whatnots can make, in a good way, a big difference in one's life. I consider myself, a jack-of-all-trade, whilst trying to make a dent in our world to make it a better place to live in.
Born in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, Philippines. I've worked for twenty odd years, in 2 leading publishing house in the Philippines (Vibal and Diwa), as a layout artist, illustrator and art director. Somewhere along the line, I established my own DTP shop, specializing in book layout and design. Not long after, I started writing and producing my own e-magazines. My first book, titled "Kritterlund" is all about the world of ants running in parallel to us, and, wheeww, it has been and still is a-work-in-progress for almost 20 years (and running). By then, by offshoot, I started making comic strips out of it (Ants World, Silent Witness, David's Adventure, etc.), and turning it into a humor-fantasy book.
Finally, I discovered that I have this itch for writing. I started writing in social media sites until I said, what the heck -- if I'm this serious in writing, I might as well publish my own books. And thus, the author in me was born. Nope, I'm not a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious author, but just someone who just loves to write. My former boss once told me that I have a talent for writing, so here I am. Of course, and I admit, I have a waaaay lot to learn, when it comes to writing and everything. Ugh! Even my grammar is always faulty. But one thing I'm sure -- I write from the heart. Everything I write comes from the goodness of my heart. That's why, I'm a hopeless romantic ergo I like writing romance-comedy stories, especially with kilig-to-the-bones narratives. Although not everybody will admit it, everyone of us are romantic fools. That's why I love to write love stories that will make a profound impact in one's life.
Uhm, every once in a while, I write non-fiction books, too. But don't hold your breath waiting for a new one.
Happily, writing and producing my own books has become my safe haven.
