This book describes the struggles that were endured by our family, arriving in the late 1950s and not knowing Manchester but immediately falling in love with Moss Side.

My journey to Moss Side, Manchester, began in 1946 when I was born in Antwerp, Belgium. My mum was living in Belgium and dad was still in the Navy trying to get his demob papers at the end of the 2nd world war. Dad had been promised a job in Belgium when he got his papers, but this did not happen as it took too long for his papers to arrive and when they did finally arrive, the job had been filled. As there were no job openings for him in Belgium, Mum and dad decided to come back to Britain and settled down in Moss Side, Manchester.
