A shadow lies over the city of Rivenhold. When a routine journey brings Rue and Viri to the capital of the Weald, they find its port abandoned and its people living in fear. Strange mists move through the streets, bringing with them creatures of darkness and claw, and a being known only as the Ashen King.
It's nothing Moonruin Investigations haven't faced before ? except Rue has been keeping secrets from Viri. There are real, living druids in Rivenhold, and they might hold the key to Viri's many questions about his past. Even if Rue had her reasons, how can Viri believe anything she says when she's lied to him for so long?
A newly discovered enclave won't be enough to save the city. As the trust between Rue and Viri is stretched to breaking point, they'll have to decide whether Moonruin can be saved ? and to defeat the Ashen King, they must descend into the very heart of shadow itself.

Amy has been writing for as long as she can remember, inspired by a childhood fascination with books. By the time she was fifteen and confronted with school 'careers guidance', she'd decided being an author was the only profession she could possibly enjoy - which, of course, led to a string of other roles, including Archaeology student, bookseller and library assistant. These days, she lives in the North Yorkshire countryside with her partner, where they run a bed & breakfast business and smallholding. When she's not working or writing, Amy enjoys reading, gaming, photography, and trying to pretend she's a grown-up.
