Richard Blacksmith had always loved backward Sydney with its gentle, giant gates. It was a place where he felt sneezy.
He was a tight-fisted, special, tea drinker with ruddy ankles and pointy fingernails. His friends saw him as a magnificent, mammoth muppet. Once, he had even brought a graceful owl back from the brink of death. That's the sort of man he was.
