Mackenzie had a good life. She had a great career breaking and training horses, and with the help of her family, she was raising her beautiful daughter, Lilly. Mackenzie became a widow and single mom at nineteen years old, when her beloved Jackson died in Afghanistan. She had worked hard to be happy and hadn't given much time or thought since to finding love again.

Will, a retired jockey and confirmed bachelor, had settled into a nice, quiet little life after leaving the track.
