Born in Columbus Ohio, C. W. Smith has also lived in several areas of Florida, and Las Vegas Nevada. He has traveled across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and Venezuela. He started the Write Side Up magazine in the winter of 2005 and released the first issue in 2006.

C. W. Smith is also a computer consultant and he is works as a freelance web applications developer as well as a musician.
