The second volume in The Tennessee Frontier Trilogy, The Border Men is an adventure saga set in the period from 1778 to 1783. The battle at King's Mountain is the prominent historical context of the novel.

He is the author of Passage to Natchez, Boone, Crockett of Tennessee, The Mountain War Trilogy of the Civil War, The Overmountain Men and The Canebrake Men (also in the Tennessee Frontier Trilogy), and numerous other historical novels. Judd is Director of Communications at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee, and lives in Choctaw, Tennessee.
