In Send Cardinals, author Candidie presents four vignettes, character studies of couples who need to reach out for spiritual sanctity to relieve themselves of their bittersweet loss of hope. All four of these couples are baby boomers, depicting a sort of mirror image of practices, belief systems, and problem-solving abilities. Written during the pandemic in 2020, the stories reflect the author's attitudes and opinions of what it's like to be faced with a lethal pandemic. She communicates the message that life is precious, and never has time looked us in the eyes with such a threatening and foreboding force. The stories suggest that as humans, we are here to do a job, and God has our backs.
