This book is not just about horses. It's also about what horses represent. Growing up in a conservative, professional Midwestern family, I did not fit the mold nor follow in the professional footsteps of my family. Instead, I dropped out, took the road less traveled and followed my muse. I was confused and alone, feeling like a misfit with no working compass. I believe there are many, many others who have felt this way and still others who currently feel this way, which is my reason and purpose for writing this book and sharing my story. I have heard it said that the opposite of courage is not cowardice but conformity. We have grown up in a world where we feel that we must fit in and "go along to get along." If only one person reads this book and is inspired to listen and follow their own unique inner calling, then my job will be done and my purpose fulfilled. I believe we all have our own unique journey and story, and when we have the courage and conviction to stay true to ourselves, the universe unfolds in the most unique, supportive, and awe-inspiring ways. Carolyn Beauchamp's love and passion for horses began at three years old, which led to equestrian training as a young girl, followed later by employment at a professional racehorse farm as an exercise girl. She eventually purchased and co-trained her own thoroughbred racehorse. Carolyn is an advanced certified clinical hypnotherapist in private practice in Naples, Florida. Her route to hypnotherapy came about through many twists and turns on a career path that spans many years and varied professions. These include working in the entertainment industry as a model, singer, and actor, performing in theater, film, and television, as well as on cruise ships traveling to many countries. Beginning her singing career in Chicago, Carolyn went on to perform in New York City, Los Angeles, and Naples, Florida. Her love of music led to teacher training in basic music competence. She taught in NYC, Woodstock, Rhinebeck, and Saugerties, New York, as well as locations in Southwest Florida. Carolyn's many unique experiences, complete with challenges, trials, and tribulations, as well as surprising mystical and otherworldly encounters, offered incredible opportunities for growth and evolution. This inspired her to share her story with the hope that those who read it will hold firmly to their vision, follow their muse, find hope, healing, and growth, and strengthen their resolve to stay open to allow and trust that the universe is working on their behalf.
