The Adventures of Will Irving is an adventure novel containing a genre mixture of noir detective mystery and science fiction. The story is set in a 1950's-like alternative history where automatons (i.e., robots) have recently been created and introduced to the world. Will Irving is a mid-20's private investigator and mechanical tinkerer who was gifted an automaton by his father, who has since left home after becoming heartbroken over the murder of his wife. Will now lives with his 10-year-old sister, Emily, and their automaton, Max. Having taken over the family P.I. business, along with his father's old partner, Hank, Will inadvertently finds himself tossed into the middle of case involving the kidnapping of the famous scientist who invented automatons. The case leads Will on an adventure which pits him against a notorious mob boss, a mysterious automaton and its shadowy owner, and ultimately an even greater menace. Along the way, Will faces both dire trials and heartfelt moments as he risks everything to protect the ones he loves and solve the case.
