D. J. Chakraborty was born in State College, Pennsylvania. She grew up in many different parts of the country including New Jersey, Maryland, Washington state, Texas, and New York when her family relocated because of her father's job as a Nuclear Engineer. After graduating from SUNY-Buffalo with a German Literature major, she has been employed in various fields. Her books cover a variety of genre.
