After being in contact with some space spider web Esme lays a strange large egg. It hatches into a spider hen.. Initially Pip Pop is scared of it but they soon become friends and Ahab names it Gifford. Problems arise when Gifford starts laying eggs and the newly hatched spider chicks have a taste for metal.
