Some scars are meant to be hidden. Others are meant to change the world
For sixteen years, Winifred "Winnie" Walters has found safety only within the glass walls of her greenhouse, preferring the quiet companionship of seedlings to the judgment of people. She keeps her sleeves long to conceal the intricate web of silvery scars tracing her arms-a permanent, glowing reminder of a childhood trauma at her school when she was very young. But her reclusive existence shatters when William Chesterfield III, a ruthless collector obsessed with weaponizing nature, kidnaps her only true friend: a telepathic plant sprite named Mareth.
Forced to leave her sanctuary, Winnie enlists the help of Jody, a pragmatic farmer, and Diffen, a gentle tinkerer who sees the beauty in her strange abilities. Their rescue mission leads them into the heart of a high-tech facility where Chesterfield intends to use Mareth to unlock the "Chloromancer's Heirloom," an ancient power capable of commanding the very soul of all growing things.
When Chesterfield captures her father and friends, he offers Winnie a devastating choice: join his crusade to dominate the natural world, or watch her loved ones die. To save them, Winnie must stop hiding from her own reflection and realize that her scars are not a mark of shame, but the signature of a guardian. She must embrace the silver light in her blood and become the bridge between worlds before Chesterfield twists the roots of the earth into a prison.
Autorentext
I consider myself someone who had a lot to tell but never told it. I could make a story on the go for most of my life so, at the age of 51, I decided to write some of them down.
With encouragement from my fiance and my family I took a class on how to write a novel from an author that has made a name for herself, I kinda figured she knew what she was talking about. She taught me the lay of the land on how to be an author.
I have two adult children who in their own way are making a mark in this world. I have my mother and my father (who has since passed away). I also have two brothers and two sisters, one of the sisters is my twin (Yeah, I was born after her and last to be born). My fiance is my rock she believes in me when I don't. She is my everything.
