David Richardson is the author of Doug & Stan, a fictitious series of funny, short stories for children told through rhyme. The Grizzly Hotel ? Open House 1 is his debut book. David was born and raised in a mining town in Nottinghamshire, England but now lives with his wife and three daughters in Adelaide, Australia. Significantly outnumbered by the female species, David climbs out of bed at 5am every morning to get stuff done before the daily chaos begins. His other career highlights include working as a Supermarket Trolley Collector (which is incredibly hard to do in the snow), Gardener (also incredibly hard to do in the snow), Police Officer (many people still don't believe he's tall enough to be a cop) and Toilet Buyer (don't ask)! Imagine your next-door neighbour has a huge range of very loud cuckoo clocks but just as important visitors arrive at your house, she SETS THEM ALL OFF AT ONCE!
Doug and Stan decide to have a chuck out but Jane can't stop laughing at Stan's old cycling helmet although trouble strikes when he tries it on. Never fear! Stan is soon distracted by happy news because Agent Paul has done it again. He's found another Buyer who may have the perfect answer for a spot of trouble - a plan to turn Stan's house into a Police Station! However, next-door neighbour Dotty Sodd thinks this idea would be the crime of the century and soon unleashes the villainous magic of her dress-up box. What will she dress up as this time and how will Doug solve the strangest of incidents? Doug & Stan - The Cuckoo Cop Shop is the fifth book by David Richardson in his series of funny, short stories told through rhyme. Fans of Dr Seuss will love this creatively written and madcap story about dealing with a problematic neighbour who disagrees with everything you try to do. With broad appeal for children and adults alike and an interwoven message of working with what you have, The Cuckoo Cop Shop provides the perfect stepping stone between picture books and novels.
