Alex Jorgenson is a twelve-year-old boy growing up in 1960s Canada, uprooted from his familiar home in Kingston for life in pastoral Amherst Island. And he doesn't know why. He is bright, he is athletic, he is curious, he is insecure. With the help of his parents, Alex faces the challenges of a new place, new school and new friends, and finds the courage to confront his bullies, care for his girlfriend and discover the treasure of Stella Bay.
