Doug Newman is an electrical engineer and IT professional with a keen interest in natural history, and has been an avid birder from a young age. His particular passion is sound recording, and he is co-founder of the Simply Birding website. He has published several books in recent years, including Bird Calls for Beginners, More Bird Calls for Beginners and 500 Common Bird Calls in Southern Africa and is co-author, with Gordon King, of both the highly accclaimed Southern African LBJs made simple and Sounds of the African Bush.
