The recipe originated in Southern Texas and Mexico, but soon traveled all over America to fill hungry stomachs. My grandmother had this recipe and only tried it once. She was not fond of beans. I remember well my mother making this dish saying "we all must learn to become Americans and eat American food". We kids thought it was too spicy hot! ENJOY!
