Friends, Enemies and Lovers traces the bizarre journey of the two POWs as they move around the country, trying to adjust to a new culture. Edgardo was a master of escaping and was at one time the most wanted man in Australia. Angelo found love, and settled into life in his new country. This is a tale about overcoming mental and physical challenges, of racism and redemption. It is the story of the search for identity in a new country. Some of the events are unbelievable, but I have included them because they are all true. It tells of a different era in Australia: a war seen through different eyes. .

Autorentext

I am a writer and a teacher living on the beautiful South Coast of NSW. My love of crime stories comes from the tales my father told me growing up in Sydney. My father was a policeman for 37 years, ten of them as a police photographer for the Scientific Investigation Bureau of the NSW Police Force.
I have spent many years cross-checking his information with official records and his former colleagues to bring these stories to life. They tell about a by-gone era, before DNA and computers, where old-fashioned legwork solved crimes. Many of the villains and heroes are long gone, however I hope my stories brings back their memories. I have made these stories into a podcast, available on Spotify. I current have about 10K listeners.
I love research history and bringing those ture stories to life in a narrative style, bu capturing not only what the characterd did in real life, but the thinking behind their decisions.
I am honoured to receive the Highly Commended award in the New England Thunderbolt Prize for Non- Fiction Crime , after winning the same category last year. These two stories, as well as many others, appear in my novel My Father's Crimes.
