The Cannes Affair boasts an eccentric cast of characters - ostensibly searching for a missing Michelangelo sketch, but in reality hunting for quite other things. The comic plot centres on a derelict French mansion - Rose du Desert - in a forgotten backstreet in Cannes. Ex-pat Caz miraculously inherits a flat inside from estranged Aunt Agnes. She sheds her trophy-wife image along with her marriage and becomes an accidental detective, steered by her cunning Labrador.
