Lola is a raw, emotional story of a Black trans woman navigating love and identity in the 1950s and '60s. As an underground club singer, Lola's life is one of both passion and survival, until she meets Freddy, a married white man whose attraction to her ignites a dangerous, secret affair. Their love, forbidden by society's harshest prejudices, challenges everything Lola knows about herself and what she deserves. As their worlds collide and violence looms, Lola must decide if love is worth the ultimate sacrifice?or if it will destroy them both. Lola is a powerful, heartbreaking tale of desire, truth, and the fight to live authentically in a world that refuses to let you.

Autorentext

I'm Aniyah J., a proud writer, dreamer, and unapologetically authentic soul. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I grew up in a family of four boys, and from the very beginning, I knew I was different. While they gravitated toward GI Joe action figures and tennis shoes, I found myself drawn to Barbie dolls, slippers, and dresses. It was clear early on that I didn't fit into the boxes the world tried to place me in, and for years, I struggled to find my voice.

For a long time, I was afraid?afraid of what the world would think if the real me was revealed. But through relentless self-love, a deep passion for success, and an unwavering drive to live my most authentic life, I finally found my truth. I didn't get here by luck or by accident. I got here because I chose to step into a destiny that only I could fulfill.

Writing has been my way of finding and amplifying my voice. It's my way of expressing the very core of who I am, and with every story I share, I feel more alive, more connected to my purpose. This journey hasn't been easy, but it's been mine. And through it all, I've learned that embracing who we are?not just the good parts, but the whole of us?is what truly sets us free.

I write not just for me, but for anyone who's ever felt different, misunderstood, or afraid to speak their truth. My hope is that through my words and my experiences, you find the courage to embrace your own story, to live boldly and authentically, and to know that the best version of yourself is within reach. This is my passion, my purpose, and I'm here to remind you that it's yours too.
