Don't judge a book by its cover. This is the fundamental premise of this book which is hilariously illustrated in numerous ways.
Sergeant Hal White is injured from a land mine explosion in Eastern Ukraine, during an operation against Ukrainian separatists and Russian insurgents, and sustains head and facial damage. His subsequent actions in order to avoid further military involvement lead to all sorts of comical consequences, both for him personally and those around him. There are also some important though unexpected outcomes for his own country and for Ukraine, the country in which he was deployed. Hal's Front is a funny, compelling, slightly provocative fictitious comedy / thriller / love story based in a Kiev Military Hospital. May be inspiring too if the reader remembers to breathe.
