James W. Murphy spent his childhood near the tide pools and harbors of Los Angeles, his adolescence in the forests and valleys of Oregon, and most of his adulthood in the cozy alleys of Taipei and dusty boulevards of Beijing. He's been a teacher, a translator, a technology industry analyst, and an editorial director of research books and journals with a major scientific publisher. He graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts and departmental honors in Chinese Language and Literature, and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California. He currently lives in the misty hills of southern Taipei with his wife, Monica.
