Mr. King completed his undergraduate college study at the University of Houston and did graduate study at Texas Southern University. Mr. King is an honorably discharged U.S. Armed Forces Veteran. King has written poetry and award winning plays for church and school settings. He is currently working on a book of short stories and a novel. His goal is to have a best-selling book in children's literature, fiction, non-fiction, and religion. He was intrigued by the Martha Adams story. He wanted to tell it for all of the children who went through the same experience but perhaps did not get the national attention or notoriety as some of the higher profile integration attempts. King wanted to tell the story through the eyes of an 11 year old, Martha Adams. King's pen name is a tribute to his son and daughter. Jermaine is his son's middle name and Kenyata is his daughter's middle name. This is how he arrived at the pen name Jermaine Kenyata.
