The author, who lived most of his life in the deep South, had a deep love of nature and nature writings. During his life, he helped to set up fish farms across the country and in West Africa. Dedicated to his family, John became a caregiver for his mother and father for several years. After they passed, John found himself diagnosed with cancer and began writing prose-poems about nature and cosmic themes?first to friends, then to his mom and dad. With a deep connection to spirituality, he became a nature writer, which he felt came from an inspiration beyond himself. He loved to travel, and three months before his death, he actualized his dream of having his three brothers journey with him to the Canadian Rockies.
