Prologue:
A filing cabinet that's a portal to other worlds. Police officers who call round to warn about his addiction to visiting his sales dashboard internet page. And a 1-star reviewer that he simply has to confront and ask why?

Main bit:
John Peachcroft is having trouble handling his lack of success as an author and it's affecting his sanity, not to mention his bank balance, general health and his relationship with his girlfriend, Claudia.

She's on the verge of moving out when John manages to negotiate a stay of execution with his beloved, giving him one year to give this being a successful author thing one last crack.

This is the hilariously tragic story of that year. A dark comedy that's a study of desperation, depression and deceit, mixed with secrets, lies, madness and a bit more deceit.

Anyone who's ever struggled to sell their books should have no problem identifying with the frustrations Peachcroft experiences as he goes from a nobody in the world of books to an even bigger nobody in the world of books.

Epilogue:
You really ought to give yourself a big pat on the back if you see the earth-shattering twist at the end coming.
