Serena Doyle is an eighth-grader with several problems: she hates school, her father is shipping out to the Middle East, and a strange man in black is trying to kill her. Adding to that is the mysterious Door in her dreams that keeps calling to her.
When she finds the Door in her grandfather's attic, Serena adds yet another problem: to solve the mystery of the Door would mean directly disobeying her grandfather. But her grandfather won't be around forever, and the Door keeps calling...
