This book presents our journey of human becoming from the worst imaginable to what is possible. The author discusses, at length, four criminal cases of murder and homicide, cases which have baffled the public, professionals and decision-makers of the criminal justice system of Australia and the United States. The studies are an inspirational deep dive into our humanity and the healing we need to overcome our society's trauma and violence.
Through a discussion of the four cases, the wounded human being behind each act of murder and abuse is brought into full view. Legacies of individual and family trauma and other likely sources of the behaviours are discussed in detail. This provides a radical insight into the origins of our emotional trauma triggers, attachment and relational concerns. Ways of healing and managing this human complexity are also offered. We all need this.
Eight further stories of inspirational individuals who faced adversity and redefined their lives with new purpose, values, authenticity, power and new beginnings are also told. Their courageous journeys are discussed as a 'rite of passage', demonstrating a consciousness accessible to us all.
Whatever our legacy, with an internal shift, new beginnings are possible.
This work draws upon the author's expertise in systemic family therapy, depth psychology, spirituality, and her studies of quantum science. The reflections arise from 40 years of partnering with clients through their despair to upliftment and growth. It is a book of inspirational human possibility.
