Then he was stricken with a brain haemorrhage and later, after months of uncertainty in hospital, he was diagnosed with a heart problem which necessitated life-saving surgery. Ken McGrath is an Irish hurler and current hurling selector who played as a centre-back for the Waterford senior team. He joined the team in 1996 and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement in 2011.
