KennethC. Laudon was a professor of information systems at New York University School ofBusiness. He held a BA in economics from Stanford and a PhD from ColumbiaUniversity. He authored 12 books dealing with electronic commerce, informationsystems, organizations, and society. Professor Laudon wrote more than 40articles concerning social, organizational, and management impacts ofinformation systems, privacy, ethics, and multimedia technology. ProfessorLaudon passed away on December 26, 2019, at the age of 75. He is survived byJane Laudon, his wife of 49 years and coauthor on several of his texts.

JanePrice Laudon is a management consultant in the information systems area and theauthor of seven books. Her special interests include systems analysis, datamanagement, MIS auditing, software evaluation, and teaching businessprofessionals how to design and use information systems.

Jane received her PhD from Columbia University,her MA from Harvard University, and her BA from Barnard College. She has taughtat Columbia University and the New York University Graduate School of Business.She maintains a lifelong interest in Oriental languages and civilizations. TheLaudons have two daughters, Erica and Elisabeth, to whom this book isdedicated.
