The Tubbs Fire of 2017 destroyed our doctor's house, but not ours. Husband and I rented our home to him and his family while we traveled for thirteen months. We headed out with a list of places we wanted to see with the idea that we would become "those Americans" living in some far-off place. This is the story of how we did it, the mistakes we made, the joys we experienced, the lessons we learned.
