Zelos is off to Solistia's border with Metis, tasked by Creston with finding the cause of an unprecedented monster stampede in the area. And it doesn't take him long to find what's happening: The stampeding monsters are running from an even more terrifying swarm of cockroach monsters, led by a colossal great givleon. Worse, the givleon is on the verge of evolving into a demon lord.

After scouting things out, Zelos hurries to the nearby fortified city of Slaiste to inform them of the danger. But the moment he arrives, he runs into Ado, an old Swords & Sorceries buddy.

Together, the Great Sage and the Sage get to defending the city from the monster stampede and the cockroach horde behind it. But their climactic battle with the great givleon takes an unexpected turn-two of them, in fact...
