"Out of the corner of my eye, I notice a slight movement in the trees. I move close to Tally and Óona and whisper. 'Don't turn around. I think we're being watched."

When Dara falls under a powerful sleep spell right before his coronation, Tally, Óona, and palace guard Senan head north to find Núada - who they believe cast the spell and is hiding with the Scottish giant Benandonner at his sea fortress. They first seek help at the mountain fortress of the giant, Fionn Mac Cúmhail. On the way, they face the legendary Dark Man who stalks the forest around Fionn's fortress and meet Oisín - Fionn's son - whose help may be the difference between surviving dark magic, outsmarting dangerous beasts, and breaking the spell before time runs out.
