The Medicine Way is the pathway of the shaman. In this book, set in the 1980s, the author goes to Washington State to live in a commune with other spiritual seekers, under the guidance of Sun Bear a medicine man who focuses on the Medicine Wheel. During the journey she learned about traditional herbal medicines, preparation and growing of herbs and making smudge sticks. There is an explanation of dream pillows and various traditional herbs used during the moon time.
Sun Bear teaches her about the coyote and how he tricks those who cannot learn any other way. This is a personal account of experiences that occurred in the 1980s offered in a deep and valuable way.
She returns to Canada and confronts a Wetiko person who has controlled and manipulated her for many years. Yet this man, this friend has spiritual gifts to share with her. This is the gift of healing the Wetiko brings to us, if we have eyes to see it.
