James Hardy Fielding grew up near Manchester, England operating machinery in the coal mining industry. The industrial revolution was bringing bigger cloth making machinery requiring more coal with each passing year. James and his wife Ann had a large family and at one point decided their whole family should immigrate to the western United States. This story is based on historical facts surrounding James and his family. It gives insight into the struggles of the day and what they did to cope with them.

Linden Fielding was raised on a large family farm in the Western United States. He earned a degree in Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering from Utah State University. Together with his wife, Ann Godfrey, he raised five children on the family farm. Once their children were grown, Linden transitioned into a role as General Manager for an international construction company, which led him to travel extensively for business across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and throughout most of the United States. He is also the author of two other works - the first in the Boundless series, his debut novel Steps to the Sun, and a memoir titled Frogs and Scorpions.
