Louisa May Alcott was an American writer best known for her 1868 novel "Little Women," based on her memoirs of growing up with her older sisters. The book was so popular that the proceeds from the sales of this and subsequent books allowed her to provide for her parents and devote herself entirely to literary work. The success of "Little Women" inspired the author to write several related novels-"Good Wives," "Little Men," and "Joe's Boys."
