This is the second book in the trilogy of Derik Paulson's law enforcement career. The sheriff of Raven County has offered to reinstate Derik to his old position of deputy sheriff on condition that he seeks out any personnel that may be operating outside the law and expose them to the sheriff. Derik carefully weighs his choices as it could ultimately ruin his reputation as a law enforcement officer.
