In 1979 8-year-old Choua Lee lived in the misty mountains of Laos with her family. When guerrilla soldiers began to destroy the nearby Hmong villages, young Choua and her family were forced to flee. Chased through the jungles and rainforest littered with landmines, they faced many dangers. Choua was separated from her sisters and feared she would never see them again. Through Choua's eyes you will see her escape from the violence of war-torn Laos to make a new life for herself on the other side of the world.
